Morigaon Jail Escapee Found Dead, Hunt for Four Others Continues

One of the five prisoners who escaped Morigaon district jail during Durga Puja, Abdul Rashid, was found dead in a pond at Lahorighat. Authorities are investigating the cause of death.

The police have intensified efforts to capture the remaining four escapees—Saifuddin, Jiarul Islam, Nur Islam, and Mafidul. Following the jailbreak, the Morigaon jailer was suspended, and other officials faced disciplinary action. A magisterial inquiry into the incident is underway.
