Indian Railways Advances Electrification in Pursuit of Green Railway Goal

Indian Railways is rapidly progressing towards full electrification of its Broad-Gauge routes, aiming for net-zero carbon emissions. So far, 2,708.52 route kilometers have been electrified, covering 64% of its 4,260.52 RKM network.
In the Northeast, 1,524.71 RKM have been electrified, including Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura. The project is expected to enhance train speeds, reduce delays, and decrease pollution, while cutting dependence on imported crude oil.
