India Completes 9.2 km Border Fencing Project in Manipur to Enhance Security

India has successfully completed a 9.214 km-long border fencing project in Moreh, Manipur, along the India-Myanmar border, aimed at strengthening security and curbing illegal activities. The project, awarded to the Border Roads Organization (BRO), is part of broader efforts to secure the 1,643 km-long border shared with Myanmar, known for smuggling, illegal migration, and insurgent activities.

Additionally, work is underway to construct a road parallel to the fence, improving accessibility and facilitating better patrolling. The India-Myanmar border passes through four northeastern states, including Manipur, and the project is vital for securing the region.

The Ministry of Home Affairs’ 2023-2024 Annual Report also highlighted the ongoing development of hybrid surveillance systems in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur to further enhance border security.
