RITES to Assess Structural Issues in Six Mile Flyover

The PWD has engaged RITES to investigate structural flaws in Guwahati’s Six Mile flyover, plagued by frequent wear and tear. Traffic restrictions are in place for ongoing repairs, causing congestion. A Rs 5-crore repair was done in 2023, just 13 years after the flyover’s 2010 inauguration. Soil studies and tremor impacts are being reviewed to determine long-term solutions. Officials have not ruled out deeper investigations but confirmed no immediate plans for dismantling the flyover.
