Wild Elephant Attack Kills Elderly Woman in Assam
A 62-year-old woman, Taramani Barman, was killed after a wild elephant destroyed her house in Daorizer village, Tamulpur, near the Indo-Bhutan border. Her husband had died in a similar attack nine years ago. Earlier this month, two women were also killed by elephants in Udalguri. In another incident, a lone elephant damaged houses and fields in Demow. Forest officials are working to drive the elephants back into the wild.
