AASAA Protests for Wage Hike, Land Rights, and ST Status

The All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) staged a two-hour protest in Dibrugarh demanding a wage hike of ₹550, land rights, and the cancellation of Assam’s tea tourism project.
Protesters highlighted land acquisition issues, as tea workers require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from garden management, which is rarely granted. They also demanded Scheduled Tribe (ST) status with caste certificates reflecting Orang, Munda, and Oriya identities.
AASAA opposes the ₹300 crore tea tourism project, stating it won’t benefit workers. They insist on better wages and living conditions instead.
