Gauhati University Hosts Memorial Lecture on Language and Memory

Gauhati University and Dr Anita Baruah Sarmah College of Education hosted the 18th Anita Baruah Sarmah Memorial Lecture. Professor G.N. Devy delivered a talk on language, memory, and change. Vice Chancellor Nani Gopal Mahanta highlighted efforts to preserve Northeast India’s endangered languages. Devy emphasized Guwahati’s role in the People’s Linguistic Survey and urged viewing language as a living, evolving force beyond politics.
