Assam Govt Grants Child Care Leave to Single Fathers

The Assam government has extended Child Care Leave (CCL) to single fathers in state departments. Announced by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, the policy allows widowers, divorcees, and unmarried fathers to avail up to 730 days of leave for childcare. Previously limited to female employees, CCL now covers biological, adopted, or dependent children up to 18 years. The move aims to support single fathers in balancing work and caregiving.
