Assam Sizzles as June Temperature Records Broken Amid Rainfall Deficit
Assam continued to face intense heat as rainfall remained stalled. Dibrugarh hit a record 38.7°C, the highest ever in June, breaking its 2015 record. Jorhat and North Lakhimpur both recorded 38.2°C, with Guwahati at 37.5°C. Several areas reported temperatures 5–6°C above normal. Rainfall from June 5–11 was 81% below normal, with only 16.9 mm recorded. IMD forecasts relief starting Friday.
