Assam’s Population Expected to Rise Ahead of 2027 Census

Preparations for India’s next census, set to begin in March 2027, have started. Assam’s population, last recorded at 3.12 crore in 2011, is projected to rise significantly. By 2024, estimates placed it at 3.62 crore. The census was delayed from 2021 due to COVID-19 and will take about two years to complete.
