Assam-Meghalaya Begin Erecting Border Pillars in Hahim to Resolve Dispute

Survey teams from Assam and Meghalaya have started installing border pillars in Hahim, Kamrup district, to mark resolved areas of their long-standing boundary dispute. The work follows the 2022 agreement that settled six of 12 disputed areas, including Hahim and Gijang. The move is part of a joint decision to complete pillar erection before Independence Day. Locals welcomed the initiative as a historic step toward lasting peace.
