Manipuri Community Demands Autonomous Council in Assam

Over 200 people from the Manipuri community held a peaceful sit-in protest in Silchar on Thursday, demanding the formation of the Manipuri Autonomous Council in Assam. Organized by the Manipuri Autonomous Council Demand Coordination Committee, the protest saw participation from Cachar, Hailakandi, and Sribhumi districts. Community leaders highlighted their centuries-old presence in Assam and called for recognition, representation, and protection of their cultural and political rights. A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister through the Cachar DC on June 23.
