Police Crack Down on Rs 60 Lakh Truck Hijack Case

A Silchar-bound 16-wheeler truck loaded with goods worth over ₹60 lakh was hijacked from Sonapur, Guwahati, on August 14. The vehicle, carrying rods, tinpats, tea leaves, and other items, was later found abandoned in Sivasagar.
Sonapur police arrested Bhaskar Chutia and Utpal Das in connection with the case, while Amguri police recovered over 100 tinpats hidden in villages and paddy fields. Two more accused, Monuj Gogoi and Diganta Gohain, were also arrested, though three others remain absconding.
A joint police operation is underway to trace the remaining culprits.
