Dibrugarh University Launches Major Digital Archive of Rare Sanchipat Manuscripts

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh University has launched what it describes as the country’s largest online archive of rare Sanchipat manuscripts, marking the birth centenary of noted Assamese poet Nabakanta Barua. The archive provides free global access to 53,275 digitised pages of manuscripts in Assamese, Tai and Sanskrit from the university’s Leela Gogoi Memorial Manuscript Museum.

The platform also includes 72,867 pages of rare books from the personal collection of renowned critic Mahendra Bora. Developed under an MoU between Dibrugarh University and the Nanda Talukdar Foundation, the archive was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof Jiten Hazarika during a two-day seminar commemorating Barua’s birth centenary.
