Nijut Moina Beneficiaries Rise to 3.5 Lakh, Says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Nijut Moina scheme now benefits 3,50,256 girl students, up from 1.6 lakh last year. Speaking in Guwahati, he said the initiative has curbed child marriage and boosted girls’ education, with no reported dropouts in higher studies. Sarma also announced ₹300 monthly aid for matric students from November 15 and scheme expansion to Degree, Polytechnic, and ITI students. He reaffirmed strict action against child marriage and crimes targeting women, calling it a step toward a “new, empowered Assam.”
