Massive Eviction Drive in Goalpara to Clear 1,140 Bighas of Encroached Forest Land

Goalpara district administration launched a major eviction drive at Dahikata, clearing 1,140 bighas of encroached forest land. Over 50 excavators and heavy security, including CRPF and Black Commandos, were deployed. Around 580 families were issued eviction notices earlier, with most vacating voluntarily. Officials said the drive aims to reduce human-elephant conflicts and prevent future encroachments through protective fencing.
