Outrage in Titabor as Wild Elephant Attacks Continue, Villagers Demand Minister’s Resignation

The ongoing human–elephant conflict in Titabor has triggered strong public anger after a herd of nearly 70–80 elephants destroyed crops, homes, and livestock across multiple villages. Residents accuse the Forest Department of negligence despite repeated warnings and are demanding the resignation of Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary.

Around 1,000 bighas of farmland have reportedly been damaged, and livestock, including goats and cows, have been killed. One person was attacked but survived. Villagers say elephants now aggressively charge anyone nearby, creating panic.

Locals have appealed to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and allege no compensation or effective action has been taken. They warn that if the government fails to intervene immediately, they may be forced to act on their own.
