Tezpur University Protest Enters 75th Day Amid Administrative Paralysis

Protests at Tezpur University demanding the removal of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh continued for the 75th day on Wednesday, with students, staff, and faculty accusing him of corruption and mismanagement. Support has grown, including backing from AASU, which held a large torch rally on Tuesday.

The crisis has reached Parliament, where MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan raised concerns over alleged irregularities and the VC’s prolonged absence. Multiple senior university officials have resigned, and the campus remains shut with exams cancelled.

Despite appeals, neither the Centre nor the state government has intervened, and protesters say the agitation will continue until action is taken.
