Gauhati High Court Continues Hearing on PIL Seeking CBI Probe into Zubeen Garg Death

The Gauhati High Court on Wednesday continued hearing a PIL demanding a CBI probe into the death of cultural icon Zubeen Garg, despite a chargesheet filed by the SIT. The petitioners questioned the adequacy of the investigation and sought judicial monitoring.

Petitioner Abhijit Sharma said the chargesheet is extensive and requires detailed scrutiny. A committee examining it is expected to submit its report before the next hearing on March 13. The petitioners reiterated their demand for a CBI inquiry and said they would closely monitor further proceedings.

The PIL is being heard alongside the ongoing trial in a lower court, where seven accused have been produced and legal aid counsel appointed.
