Gaurav Gogoi Targets BJP Over Jal Jeevan Mission Failures, Announces Statewide Protest Drive

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Assam government, alleging large-scale corruption and mismanagement in the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Addressing a protest meeting in Jorhat, Gogoi claimed Assam ranks second nationally in scams linked to the scheme and said it has failed to deliver drinking water to people. He alleged that proximity between the concerned minister and the Chief Minister enabled corruption.

To intensify protests, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee announced a statewide sticker campaign at sites where the scheme has failed. Gogoi said public anger over corruption would reflect in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Responding to remarks by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gogoi dismissed them as political threats and asserted that the Congress would offer accountable, people-centric governance if voted to power.
