Assam Govt Keeps Close Watch on Bangladesh Situation, Evictions to Continue: CM Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state government is closely monitoring developments in Bangladesh amid reports of violence against minority Hindus and security concerns. He stressed the need for heightened vigilance due to Assam’s history of cross-border migration.

Sarma reiterated that eviction drives against illegal encroachments will continue in phases across Assam, including villages and char areas. He also reviewed preparations at Batadrava Than ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on December 29, during which multiple projects in Guwahati and Nagaon are scheduled to be inaugurated.
