Elephant Attacks Injure Five, Kill Cattle in Nagaon Villages

Wild elephant attacks injured at least five people and killed two cattle in Nagaon on Tuesday, intensifying concerns over human–elephant conflict. In Jalah village under Barhampur, three residents—Pankaj Saikia, Baiti Saikia and Tulsi Saikia—were attacked during a morning walk and hospitalised, while two cattle were trampled to death. Separately, two more people were injured in an elephant attack at Nonoi Panigaon village.

Locals blamed inadequate preventive measures by the Assam Forest Department and demanded urgent action to protect residents and livestock, especially after recent incidents highlighting rising risks to both humans and wildlife.
