Congress, AJYCP Visit Jadav Payeng After Fire at Molai Forest 2.0

A delegation from the Jorhat district Congress and the AJYCP met noted environmentalist Jadav Payeng at Kokilamukh to review the recent fire at Molai Kathoni (Molai Forest) 2.0 near Jorhat. The fire, reportedly deliberate, destroyed around 5,000 saplings over five bighas and killed birds and small animals.

The blaze was contained through swift action by Payeng’s daughter Munmuni Payeng with help from villagers. The delegations, led by Congress leader Bikash Gogoi and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad president Palash Changmai, expressed anguish over the incident and praised the immediate response that prevented further damage.
