Residents Demand Urgent Repair of Old Haflong–Silchar Road

Residents of Retzawl village near Haflong have raised concern over the worsening condition of the old Haflong–Silchar road, which continues to carry heavy vehicle traffic daily. Deep potholes, dust, and frequent landslides have made travel risky, affecting students, patients, and commuters in villages like Arda, Doiheng, and Retzawl.
With no timely government action, the Hmar Women Association has taken temporary measures such as filling potholes and sprinkling water to control dust. The Association has demanded immediate black-topping of the road, warning that further delay could lead to serious accidents and loss of life.
