Magisterial Probe Ordered into Death of Journalist’s Wife in Tinsukia

The Tinsukia district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a journalist’s wife, allegedly due to hospital negligence after she delivered a healthy baby girl. The incident triggered protests by student organisations and journalists’ bodies.

The Moran Students’ Union demanded legal action against the hospital staff and sought ₹1 crore compensation for the family. The woman, Hemamani Borah Moran (32), was admitted to Aditya Hospital and died after her condition worsened during post-delivery care.

An inquiry team led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner has been formed and asked to submit its report within seven days.
