Charges Unlikely in Zubeen Garg Death Case at January 17 Hearing: SPP

Framing of charges in the Zubeen Garg death case is unlikely at the January 17 hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Ziaul Kamar said, citing the recent formation of the prosecution team and the need to examine voluminous records. Kamar said the charge sheet runs over 300 pages with nearly 3,000 supporting documents, and all files are yet to be received.

He noted that several petitions, including bail matters, are pending and the prosecution needs time to study the case thoroughly before proceeding. Kamar stressed that any charges must be backed by material evidence, not narratives alone. The six-member prosecution team, he said, will move forward collectively and strictly as per legal procedure, following the court’s directions at the next hearing.
