NH-38 Blocked in Digboi Over Delays and Safety Concerns

Normal traffic on NH-38 was disrupted on Saturday after residents of Digboi’s Golai area blocked the highway, protesting delays and safety hazards caused by ongoing road widening work. Local youth leader Amit Dutta accused executing agencies of negligence, citing dust, pollution, poor progress, and lack of safety measures near schools. He said repeated appeals were ignored despite the project costing over ₹350 crore. An open meeting with NHIDCL, district officials, and contractors is scheduled on Monday, with protesters warning of further agitation if issues remain unresolved.
