CM Sarma Challenges Congress on Stand for Indigenous Assamese

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on the Congress, asking the party under Gaurav Gogoi to clarify whether it stands with indigenous Assamese people or the Miya community. He alleged a shift in the Congress’s ideology under Gogoi and raised concerns over land encroachment and demographic pressure in the state.
Sarma also accused the Congress leadership and its social media cell of promoting narratives against Assamese identity and indulging in character assassination. He said related issues would be discussed in the state cabinet, while BJP–AGP seat-sharing matters would be resolved through dialogue.
