Assam’s Budget Utilisation Rises to 85%, Says Finance Minister

Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog told the Assembly that the state’s budget utilisation has risen to 85 per cent due to administrative reforms and reduced red tape. She said Assam’s own revenue increased from Rs 2,500 crore in 2015–16 to Rs 30,000 crore in 2025–26, while the budget size has grown to nearly Rs 2 lakh crore. The House passed the Assam Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill, 2026–27, amounting to Rs 62.29 lakh crore. Opposition members raised concerns over land pattas, price rise, unemployment and regional disparity during the debate.
