Assam Makes Progress in Resolving Border Disputes with Neighbouring States

The Assam government has made significant progress in resolving long-pending border disputes with neighbouring states, the Assembly was informed on Wednesday. Border Protection and Development Minister Atul Bora said consensus has been reached on several disputed points with Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, while talks are ongoing with Mizoram and the Assam–Nagaland issue remains before the Supreme Court.
Bora said agreements have already been signed with Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, leading to resolution in multiple disputed areas and villages. Joint surveys and demarcation work are underway, with boundary pillars being erected in some locations. The government said efforts are continuing to settle the remaining disputed areas through dialogue and surveys.
