Hagrama Mohilary Denies Final NDA Seat-Sharing, Talks Still On

BPF chief and BTC head Hagrama Mohilary on Sunday dismissed reports claiming finalised NDA seat-sharing numbers, stating that discussions among alliance partners are still underway. Speaking at a BPF rally in Kokrajhar, he said no seat allocation has been decided and termed the circulated figures inaccurate.

Mohilary clarified that the BJP leads the NDA and that BPF would decide seats based on its own strength. He also said talks are ongoing with UPPL leaders over possible defections before the Model Code of Conduct comes into force.

On development, he expressed hope for positive announcements during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Assam visit on March 14, citing projects such as flyovers, bridges and highways in the BTR. He flagged delays at Rupsi Airport and welcomed the MoU for a new international airport at Manas.

The rally was projected as a show of strength ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. Meanwhile, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia said the party’s candidate list would be released in phases after Dol Utsav.
