Assam to Get 52 New Train Stoppages to Improve Rail Connectivity

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 52 railway stations across the state will soon receive new train stoppages to improve connectivity and meet long-standing public demands.

The decision was taken after reviewing requests from people and public representatives. Local MLAs will inaugurate the new stoppages on Thursday.

Major changes include the Vande Bharat Express stopping at Barpeta Road, while Rajdhani Express will halt at Diphu and Furkating. Several other stations like Bijni, Hojai, Jagiroad, Kokrajhar, Pathsala, and Tihu will also receive stoppages for important long-distance trains.

Stations in Upper Assam and hill districts such as Duliajan, Naharkatiya, Selenghat, and Maibong will also benefit. The move aims to make railway services more accessible for people across Assam.
