Security Lapses Alleged in Assam Election Strongrooms Ahead of Counting

Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia has alleged serious security violations in strongrooms storing post-poll election materials at Sivasagar. In a letter to Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel, he claimed rooms were not sealed as per Election Commission norms, lacked proper double-lock systems, and had weak security arrangements. Some doors could reportedly be opened easily, and no dedicated guards were deployed. Saikia submitted evidence and demanded an urgent inquiry and strict action, raising concerns ahead of vote counting on May 4.
