Rijiju Urges Opposition Not to Link Delimitation with Women’s Bill

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju urged opposition parties not to spread rumours over delimitation or link it to opposition against the women’s reservation bill. He called the proposal a historic step to ensure 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies.
The Centre plans to implement the bill before the 2029 elections, possibly delinking it from the census-based delimitation. A special Parliament session from April 16–18 will discuss the proposal amid opposition concerns.
