2,415 Pilgrims from Northeast to Perform Haj 2026

A total of 2,415 pilgrims from Assam and other northeastern states will undertake the Haj pilgrimage in 2026, with departures scheduled from May 18 to 21. Out of 2,569 applicants, 170 withdrew due to financial and medical reasons. Assam recorded the highest number of applicants. Pilgrims were selected through a digital process by the Haj Committee of India.
A state-level committee has been formed to manage travel, accommodation, and other arrangements, with a control room set up at Haj House in Guwahati. Most pilgrims will depart from Guwahati, followed by other cities like Kolkata and Mumbai. Officials said preparations include training personnel and ensuring smooth coordination for pilgrim welfare.
