Tea Workers Protest in Titabar Over Alleged Wage Cuts

Thousands of tea garden workers from Dofolating Tea Estate in Titabar, Assam, staged a massive protest on Saturday over alleged wage deductions on Labour Day.
Led by the All Adivasi Students’ Association (AASA), protesters accused the tea garden management of cutting wages unfairly and exploiting workers. Demonstrators demanded full payment for May 1 wages and the removal of garden manager Surendra Tiwari.
Workers also alleged that labourers were previously forced to work for very low wages and deprived of basic entitlements. AASA submitted a memorandum to the tea estate authorities and labour officials seeking immediate action.
