‘Bhupen Da Uncut’ Documentary Reveals Rare Footage of Bhupen Hazarika

A new documentary titled Bhupen Da Uncut offers a rare and intimate look into the life of legendary Assamese musician Bhupen Hazarika through candid footage recorded 27 years ago.

Created by filmmaker Bobbeeta Sharma, the film features raw, unscripted conversations with Hazarika during his 1999 visit to the UK. The documentary includes his reflections on music, childhood, relationships and Assamese cultural icons, along with scenes of him singing and reciting poems.

The footage was rediscovered in 2024 and later digitised without major editing to preserve its original vintage feel. The documentary has already been screened at several film and cultural events in India.
