NDA, Congress Alliance Confident Ahead of Assam Vote Counting

Ahead of vote counting for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections on May 4, both the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led Opposition alliance have expressed confidence about forming the next government.

BJP spokesperson Kishore Upadhyay claimed the NDA would secure a two-thirds majority, while APCC leader Mehdi Alam Bora said the Congress and its allies expect to cross 70 seats.

AGP leader Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee said the NDA could win over 80 seats, while the AIUDF projected victory in 9 to 12 constituencies.

Counting of votes for the 126-member Assembly will begin at 8 am on May 4, with final results expected by evening.
