Ripun Bora Announces Retirement From Electoral Politics After Assam Poll Defeat

Former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora on Monday announced his retirement from electoral politics after losing the Barchalla Assembly seat to BJP candidate Ritu Baran Sarmah.

Bora said he would no longer contest elections but would continue to remain in the Congress party and work against the BJP as a senior leader.

While accepting the election results, Bora raised doubts over the outcome and said the Congress would review its defeat. He also questioned whether the enthusiasm of young voters was reflected in the final results and said concerns over possible EVM manipulation could not be completely ruled out.
