Debabrata Saikia Congratulates Himanta Biswa Sarma, Urges Action on Key Assam Issues

Former Assam Opposition Leader Debabrata Saikia congratulated Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on the NDA’s victory in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections and wished him a successful and people-oriented tenure as Chief Minister.

In a letter, Saikia also urged the government to address key issues, including implementation of the Assam Accord, deportation of illegal infiltrators, and granting ST status to six communities. He appealed for steps to restore harmony among different communities and sought speedy investigation into Assamese singer Zubeen Garg’s death while extending support to his family.
