Himanta Biswa Sarma Elected NDA Legislature Leader, Set for Second Term as Assam CM

Himanta Biswa Sarma has been unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP and NDA Legislature Party, clearing the way for his second consecutive term as Assam Chief Minister.

The decision was taken during a meeting of BJP legislators and NDA allies in Guwahati after the alliance’s victory in the Assembly elections.

Sarma will take oath as Chief Minister on May 12 at Khanapara in Guwahati in the presence of Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, NDA Chief Ministers and senior BJP leaders.

The Assam Governor has officially appointed Sarma as Chief Minister under Article 164(1) of the Constitution.
