Assam Assembly Session Begins Today, UCC Bill Likely to Be Introduced

The four-day session of Assam’s 16th Assembly begins on May 21, with the election of a new Speaker and the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill expected to be major highlights. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the BJP-led government is moving ahead with its promise to introduce the UCC Bill during this session.

The Chief Minister also hinted that a cabinet expansion may take place in the first week of June after the Assembly session concludes.
