NFR Reviews Safety and Progress of Balurghat–Hili Rail Project

Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager (Construction) Ashish Bansal inspected the Eklakhi–Balurghat and Balurghat–Hili railway sections on May 20 to review safety measures and ongoing infrastructure works.
Officials said the 29.257-km Balurghat–Hili New Broad Gauge Line project in West Bengal is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,181.09 crore and is targeted for completion by March 2027.
The inspection covered track conditions, station development, bridge construction, passenger facilities and operational preparedness. Railway authorities said land acquisition for the project has been completed and construction of bridges, stations and related infrastructure is progressing steadily.
