Muslims in Assam’s Pangram Appeal Against Cow Slaughter Ahead of Bakrid

Members of the Muslim community in Pangram area of Udharbond have decided to avoid cow slaughter during the upcoming Bakrid festival to promote social harmony and prevent communal tensions.

During a public meeting, community leaders appealed to Muslims to respect existing laws and the religious sentiments of Hindus, who worship cows as sacred. They also expressed concern over recent incidents where Muslims allegedly faced harassment over beef-related allegations.

A similar appeal was made in Patharkandi by the Global Progressive Foundation. Its president, Badrul Haque, stated that cow slaughter is not mandatory during Bakrid and urged the government to impose a complete ban on cow slaughter and beef export.
