Assam Jumps to 12th Rank in National School Education Index

Assam has improved from 27th to 12th position in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 released by the Union Ministry of Education, marking a major improvement in school education performance.
The state’s score increased from 511.5 to 593.6, moving Assam into the “Prachesta-3” category. Assam received “Uttam” grades in access, equity and governance.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the achievement reflects the government’s focus on education reforms, infrastructure development and reducing dropout rates.
The report also showed Meghalaya ranking last nationally, while other northeastern states recorded mixed performances in school education indicators.
