Gauhati University Clarifies FYUGP Fee Structure Amid Hike Concerns

Gauhati University has clarified that allegations of a steep increase in fees linked to the implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) are misleading and not based on facts. The statement came after the Assam College Principals’ Council (ACPC) claimed that the university had significantly raised fees payable by affiliated colleges under the new academic system.

The university stated that the revised fee structure includes a one-time permission fee specifically for the newly introduced fourth year of the FYUGP. According to officials, this is not a new or arbitrary charge but part of an existing regulatory framework already followed since 2018 for launching additional academic years or programmes.

University authorities explained that affiliated colleges have previously paid similar one-time permission fees for introducing new academic components, and the fourth year under FYUGP is being treated under the same policy. The clarification was issued to address concerns and explain that the fee structure follows established provisions applicable uniformly across institutions.
