AAPSU Rejects Demand for ILP Exemption for Assam’s Mising Community

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union has rejected demands to exempt Assam’s Mising community from the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Arunachal Pradesh.

AAPSU president Meje Taku said the ILP is a constitutional and legal safeguard for indigenous people and must apply equally to all non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (non-APST) individuals. While acknowledging the historical and cultural ties between the Mising community and several Arunachal tribes, the union maintained that such connections cannot override existing laws.

AAPSU also urged the state government to ensure strict and uniform enforcement of the ILP system and called for restraint to preserve harmony between communities in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
