Kaziranga Bird Survey Records 30 Raptor Species, 6 Stork Species

A recent bird survey in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve recorded 30 species of raptors with 217 individual sightings and six species of storks with 266 sightings, highlighting the park’s rich avian diversity.

Conducted between February and March 2026, the survey found the Asian Openbill to be the most abundant stork and the Himalayan Griffon Vulture the most commonly sighted raptor. Officials said the findings will support ongoing conservation efforts for several threatened bird species in the Kaziranga landscape.
