Five IAF Personnel Killed in AN-32 Aircraft Crash in Jorhat

Jorhat: Five Indian Air Force personnel lost their lives on Saturday after an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed at Rowriah Air Force Station shortly after take-off.

The deceased were identified as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.

According to reports, the aircraft was on a routine sortie from Jorhat to Chabua when it reportedly sought to return for landing. During the approach, the aircraft veered off the runway, broke into two pieces and caught fire.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot immediately, while the Indian Air Force has launched an inquiry into the incident. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed grief over the loss and assured all possible support to the bereaved families.
