Gauhati High Court Quashes GMC Order on Motorised Rickshaws

Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court has set aside a 2022 GMC order that directed owners of motorised rickshaws to remove electric motors within seven days. The court ruled that the order was not legally sustainable, providing relief to hundreds of rickshaw operators.

However, the court clarified that the GMC can continue to levy taxes, fees, and other lawful charges on such rickshaws under existing rules and regulations.
